This is not a drill: Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire gets an earlier release date
I've started a few news pieces this week with the words "What a great week to be a [insert show here] fan!" and, my goodness, it just hasn't stopped. Almost all our favorite fandoms have had awesome updates lately, and I have one more exciting update to share.
What a wonderful time to be a MonsterVerse fan! In an exciting turn of events, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is coming to movie theaters even sooner than we initially thought! I'm literally jumping up and down with excitement right now.
The release date has been moved up to March 29, 2024. The only, and I mean only down part of this update is that this will no longer be considered my birthday present from Legendary Studios. But that's totally fine with me - that's a whole week earlier than planned!
'Zilla, our favorite atomic-breath lizard, is coming back, and he's not alone. Kong, the king of Hollow Earth, is joining in too. The plot sounds exciting as well, with both Godzilla and Kong facing a colossal new threat together. Plus, we get to dive deeper into their histories, origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island. This is like a dream come true for any monster movie fan! I can't wait to see what secrets they uncover and how this ties them to humanity.
And with Adam Wingard is back in the director's chair, the excitement only grows. He did such an amazing job with Godzilla vs. Kong, I'm pretty stoked to see what he does with this sequel. The monster showdown was the perfect conclusion to the MonsterVerse's first chapter and it will be interesting to see where the franchise goes next.
With Monarch: Legacy of Monsters entertaining us on Apple TV+ and Godzilla Minus One thrilling audiences around the world on the big screen, it's also been an exciting time to be a fan of Godzilla in general. GxK is the next stage of excitement and it's absolutely awesome that we're going to see this larger-than-life team up sooner than expected.
Godzilla and Kong fans, mark your calendars. This is going to be epic, and I can't wait to see our favorite Titans back in action.
