If you want to see the perfect live-action adaptation of Oliver Queen, watch Justin Hartley's performance on Smallville. With his effortless charm, playful smirks, and quietly commanding presence, Hartley was the personification of Oliver Queen. Yes, he was that convincing in the role.

I think the greatest aspect of his performance was the ease of which he captured Oliver Queen, playboy billionaire. He just oozed charisma, and that goes for everytime he was in the field as the Green Arrow just as much as it does for whenever he was raising a toast at a party or holding a press conference. He was just so darn watchable in everything that he did, and that made it super easy to buy into his performance.

While Oliver does carry a ton of emotional baggage due to his time on the island, the thing that makes him such a great hero is how he channels that into what he does, and still doesn't lose sight of who he is. Yes, he'll spend a lifetime recovering from what he went through on that island, and making up for his past sins, but he's still the inherently playful, talk-every-second, and quirky Green Arrow. It's incredibly comic-accurate, and we don't talk about the ease with which Hartley managed to bring that to life enough.
