Rick kept Bigfoot around so it could kill him (as predicted in "Air Force Wong"). With the proper runes and location, Rick could die and go to Valhalla. Why would an atheist go to Valhalla? Rick was searching for an unlimited source of energy. He gets it, but the technology is stolen by the Pope. Of course, this leads to all sorts of shenanigans.
