How you can watch X-Men '97 episode 5 online

Previously, on X-Men ‘97, Jubilee and Roberto Da Costa were transported into a video game console called Motendo. Of course, this was a trick by the master of the multiverse, Mojo. As usual, Mojo used them for TV ratings (that he controls, by the way). Jubilee beats the game with help from her much older variant.

This was a fun part of the A-story, but there’s a big takeaway. Jubilee used her powers like never before. For decades, Jubilee has underperformed. She creates and detonates energy plasmoids and uses them to make fireworks. As we saw in this episode, she can do more than that. Hopefully, this isn’t a one-time thing.

The other thing to pay attention to is Storm’s story. As the episode ends, she's taken by a demon owl (that’s likely the Shadow King). This should be a prelude to her getting her powers back. Unfortunately, part 2 of her story doesn't return until episode 6 next week. In the meantime, though, there is a banger of an episode waiting to be checked out. X-Men '97 is a Disney Plus original series, so this week's episode – along with the five remaining episodes of the season – can only be viewed via a subscription to the platform itself.

What to expect in episode 5 of X-Men '97

Gambit and Rogue go to Genosha ahead of officially making it a nation. Gambit thinks something up, and he’s probably right. Fans of the X-Men in Marvel Comics know how Genosha ended. If you’re not familiar with the storyline, it was destroyed by an onslaught of Sentinels. Millions of mutants were killed in seconds (New X-Men No. 115 by Grant Morrison).

If X-Men ‘97 is bold enough to adapt this storyline, it will be the most tragic event of any comic book show or movie. 

One fun thing to do in this episode will be to count the random X-Men, Young Mutants, and members of X-Factor and X-Force in Genosha. For example, Pixie was one of the first mutants I noticed. Look for at least a dozen more to appear.
