Previously, on X-Men ‘97, Bastion’s plan to take out the X-Men was in full effect. The humans he turned into Sentinels attacked and, for quite some time, they seemed unbeatable. Cutting them into pieces didn’t work and Cable was out of EMP grenades to stun them with. Luckily, Valerie Cooper released Magento. Without his worldwide EMP, mutants around the world would have been killed or captured.

Before the episode ends, Charles Xavier returns to Earth and calls his X-Men. It looks like it’s time to bring everyone together. However, Xavier lied to the X-Men. He’ll have explaining to do before they can trust him. This could be the beginning of the X-Men learning about their mentor's many lies.

This is the penultimate episode of the first season, so it's going to be a big one. If you'd like to check it out, here's what you need to know.

"The X-Men work to settle the score before it is too late"

Bastion’s plans may have taken a hit in the first episode of the three-part season finale of X-Men '97, but he’ll have backups. He’s already begun manipulating the media and he exposed Xavier for faking his death. He’ll likely blame the X-Men for his mutant sentinels or say that the X-Men killed innocent people. This will likely start Operation Zero Tolerance

How will Mr. Sinister react to Bastion’s plan? He wasn’t happy that his partner didn’t let him know everything. Although, Sinister hasn’t told Bastion everything yet either, has he? There’s no way Essex doesn’t have a scheme of his own.

Besides everything going on with the X-Men, this is the most important storyline of the last couple of episodes. The thing with Mr. Sinister is that he never really loses. He learns from his defeat and adapts. Even if Bastion kills Sinister, Essex has clones of himself in place. We have a feeling he will be the one villain to outlast this storyline.
