Very little is officially known about the Spider-Man Noir TV adaptation from Amazon Prime Video. Much like the mysteries its titular character will face as a private investigator, the series is surrounded by a lot of secrecy and silence. But as the project gets deeper into its pre-production stage, small casting news and rumors are slowly making their way online. However, this time we may have a big breakthrough, as there could be confirmation of one of the villains set to face Nicolas Cage's Peter Parker. And let me tell you: it is a big one.

Reliable insider Daniel Richtman recently reported that the Sandman could make his live-action return in the Spider-Man Noir series. While it wasn't confirmed who will get to play the role (or whether he'll be the main antagonist), we can put on our detective hats and investigate a little further. Because, let's face it, that's exactly what this alternate version of Spider-Man would do.

Sandman could have a smaller role in the Spider-Man Noir series

Flint Marko is a little bit different in the Spider-Man Noir universe compared to the Earth 616 version. After all, he can't turn his body into sand which means he also isn't able to shapeshift or turn into a giant monster. Instead, he alters his body physiology to turn into solid stone, giving him a great advantage in hand-to-hand combat. You can think of him as an alternate version of Tombstone just to get a better idea.

Much like Tombstone, Sandman often acts as a henchman in the Noir comic book series. He worked for Doctor Octopus and Crime Master before eventually meeting his end after being shot multiple times in the chest. So in the same fashion, perhaps the Amazon Prime Video series will feature him in a smaller role, following the orders of a bigger and greater threat. But even then, chances are he'll prove to be a reckless villain for Spider-Man, and we're all in for it!

Could this star play the role?

Recently, Variety reported that two stars would join Nicolas Cage in the Spider-Man Noir series. First, we got confirmation that Lamorne Morris would appear as a series regular in the role of Robbie Robertson. Shortly after, news also broke that Brendan Gleeson would join the series in an undisclosed antagonistic role.

It isn't far-fetched to assume the Harry Potter star could play the role of Flint Marko. In fact, it would be a pretty spot-on casting if that turns out to be the case (he was initially rumored to be playing a character with the codename of The Monster!). While nothing is set in stone yet, we'll surely learn more from official sources as the series gets closer and closer to its production phase. Until then, it's pretty exciting to know Sandman will reportedly appear as one of the many enemies that Nicolas Cage private investigator Spider-Man will have to face off against.

Yeah, we're ready for the live-action rematch.

Spider-Man Noir will release on MGM+ and Amazon Prime Video.
