James Bond movies in order and where to watch the 007 franchise
6. Casino Royale (1967)
Synopsis: This wacky send-up of James Bond films stars David Niven as the iconic debonair spy, now retired and living a peaceful existence. Bond is called back into duty when the mysterious organization SMERSH begins assassinating British secret agents. Ridiculous circumstances lead to the involvement of a colorful cast of characters, including the villainous Le Chiffre (Orson Welles), seasoned gambler Evelyn Tremble (Peter Sellers) and Bond's bumbling nephew, Jimmy Bond (Woody Allen).
After Sean Connery had a 5-movie-run as Agent 007, the iconic role was handed not only to one different actor but to... six? David Niven portrayed the original James Bond in Casino Royale, with 5 other MI6 agents also taking on the role in an attempt to confuse the villainous agency known as SMERSH. While it may sound like a strange turn of events for a Bond film, it's worth noting that Casino Royale is a parody. As a result, it didn't find the critical acclaim its predecessors had by a long shot and it isn't considered an "official" entry in the franchise.

7. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Synopsis: Agent 007 (George Lazenby) and the adventurous Tracy Di Vicenzo (Diana Rigg) join forces to battle the evil SPECTRE organization in the treacherous Swiss Alps. But the group's powerful leader, Ernst Stavro Blofeld (Telly Savalas), is launching his most calamitous scheme yet: a germ warfare plot that could kill millions!
After the wacky episode that was Casino Royale, the franchise was back in full form with On Her Majesty's Secret Service. The film was released on December 18, 1969, and it featured Peter Hunt in the director's chair with George Lazenby taking on the role of Agent 007. His performance in the lead role earned him a nomination for New Star of the Year at the Golden Globes, but even then, On Her Majesty's Secret Service would be the only time he would ever portray the iconic role.
