Fairly recently, Lenore Zann, better known for playing the Southern Belle Rogue from the original ’92 animated series, X-Men: The Animated Series went on X (H/T: CBR) to declare that work on the second season for the series revival X-Men ’97 has preceded.
"Happy to be back in the studio continuing to record Season 2 of X-Men 97 for @MarvelStudios - this time in Burbank. Grateful to be back and I jes’ know y’all are gonna love our new show as much as I do," Zann teased.
Beau DeMayo, the head writer and executive producer at the helm of the X-Men ’97 series, has shared the process of the newly-fledged continuation of the original show. He also revealed per The Direct that scripts for Season 2 are underway.
At the time, DeMayo was “writing the season finale for Season 2” for X-Men ’97. Mind you, this is in advance of its first season premiere which is not expected to hit on its Disney Plus streaming service until early 2024. It will consist of ten episodes.
X-Men ’97 revealed the cast of characters – both heroes and villains – that will appear on the show. From the original series, Cal Dodd, George Buza, Catherine Disher, Chris Potter, Alison Sealy-Smith, Adrian Hough, Christopher Britton, Alyson Court, including Zann are set to return but some voicing new roles.
While the revival series will maintain the nostalgia and look of the original, there will be some significant changes. Storm and Cyclops are the core focus of this series within their purview, as the viewers get to navigate each character throughout each adventure.
