When Disney acquired Fox, comic book fans rejoiced. The X-Men were now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They weren’t the only property coming over. The Predator and Alien franchises came as well.

The 2022 announcement included variant covers from artists like David Finch, Mattia De Iulis, and more. Each showed a different Marvel Comics character fighting the Xenomorph or the Predator. After that, news about the acquisition was non-existent. Comics starring the Predator and Alien were published but neither interacted with popular characters.

In 2023, the Predator made his true debut fighting Wolverine (Predator vs. Wolverine). It was a brilliant way to introduce the Yautja to Marvel fans. All that was left were the Xenomorphs. The good news is you won’t have to wait much longer. Marvel Comics announced Aliens vs. Avengers is coming in July of 2024 for a four-part mini-series.

Writer Jonathan Hickman (Avengers and Secret Wars) and artist Esad Ribić (Loki and Thor: God of Thunder) will team up to pit Earth’s Mightiest Heroes against the alien apex predator. Hickman said, "Probably one of the coolest things about the project is how we've found really fun ways to 'Avengerize' Aliens and 'alien-up' Avengers,"

That news alone is enough to get fans excited. This is an opportunity to see Xenomorph Thor or Captain Marvel take on their characteristics. And despite this being terrifying, Tony Stark will be excited to see a new alien. The Avengers have been around the galaxy, but haven’t encountered anything like the Xenomoprh. The closest thing is the Brood and they pale in comparison. Don't be shocked if the Brood and Aliens fight in this series.

The best part about this is this isn’t the end. The Xenomorphs are never gone for good. There’s always one egg left to start this all over again. Plus, there has to be a reason behind the Predator and Alien fighting Marvel characters within the same year. Marvel Comics is likely building up to something big. Whatever that is, it’ll be epic. Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow to find out what that is.
