Marvel Comics characters tend to underestimate Wade Wilson because he doesn’t take much seriously. That tends to be their last mistake. Deadpool’s jokes and personality are a defense mechanism for his insecurities. It’s also how he distracts his opponents. The people who don’t underrate him know that his reputation is warranted. That’s where Dracula comes in.

It might not be as known as it should be, but Deadpool and the Lord of Vampires actually squared off in the pages of Marvel Comics once. And that underestimation on Dracula's part led to Wade Wilson doing what he always does; surprising people.

Vlad Dracula needed someone to get Shiklah from her coffin in the Arabian Peninsula and bring her to him. Their marriage was going to unite their two factions and bring peace. In reality, he wanted to kill her after their marriage. This way he'd control both of their empires.

Deadpool was hired because Wade can’t be mind-controlled - something that Shiklah can do to others. Wade does indeed get to her and the two end up falling in love. She even found Wade handsome. This leads to them being intimate on their way to Dracula.

Back home, Dracula found out that Shiklah’s brothers were alive, which meant his marriage wouldn’t leave him in charge. He killed them and put their heads on spears. Shiklah was heartbroken when she found out; She thought her brothers were dead so she couldn't wait to see them. Instead, she was given unfortunate news of their demise. She even saw what Dracula did to them. Now, Shiklah wanted revenge.

After being cornered in a church by Dracula's minions, Deadpool came up with a plan: Shiklah couldn't marry the Prince of Darkness if she's already married. Since they were already in a church and a priest was available, the pair got hitched. Once Dracula found out, he was furious - so much so that he said to heck with his plans and was ready to kill Shiklah before he could follow through with them. Of course, he had to go through her husband first.

During the fight, Dracula beat Deadpool badly and ripped the Merc With A Mouth's arm off. He assumed he had Wade on the ropes and went to drink his blood. Instead of satisfaction, Wade's tainted blood makes him weak, poisoning the Lord of the Vampires. Deadpool then took his severed arm and stabbed Dracula in the chest with it. Unable to fight, the vampire vowed revenge and flew away as a flock of bats.

With the battle over, Deadpool celebrated with Shiklah, her family, and her monster subjects. Wade knows that Dracula will come back for him but he chooses to live in the moment. The issue concludes with Deadpool saying he’ll enjoy the story of how he beat up Dracula and stole his lady.
