Marvel Comics: Spider-Man is in trouble as the Sinister 6 return
By Mark Lynch
Spider-Man never stops moving. After a hellish 24 hours (Gang War) and helping the X-Men stop Orchis (read X-Men No. 30 to 32 for more on that), Spidey gives one of the first antidotes to Mary Jane’s Aunt in Ravencroft (a prison for the criminally insane). Orchis altered the Krakoan pills that made her homicidal (this happened during the 2023 Hellfire Gala). Later, MJ and Peter go to Ravencroft to see if the serum worked. Thankfully, it did.
While at Ravencroft, Peter notices Sandman in the lunchroom. Peter sits down and calls him by his real name (Williams Baker). Baker is appreciative of this and explains that he turned himself in. Baker says that the bad parts of him (Sandman and Flint Marko) wanted him to do bad things.
While talking, Peter makes the mistake of mentioning Baker turning into a beach. Baker asks how he knew about that. Peter says it's because he’s friends with Spider-Man. This triggers Baker and releases the Sandman personality who wants to kill Spider-Man. A shock from Sandman's restraints settles him down. Seeing this, the medical staff says Peter needs to leave.
Before Peter exits, Baker tells him to get in touch with Spider-Man. He says, “They want him out too. He’ll know who I mean.” The next page shows Dr. Octopus, Mysterio, Vulture, Kraven the Hunter, and Electro all talking. There are only five of them now. It won’t be difficult to a sixth. When that happens, the Sinister Six will be reunited and ready to kill Spider-Man. The sixth could be Norman Osborn.
The return of the Sinister Six isn’t shocking. It’s been a while since Spider-Man’s fought them. Thankfully, Peter may not have to do it alone. Peter has Miles Morales, Mary Jane (who’s fighting crime as Jackpot), Norman Osborn (if he isn’t the Green Goblin), Spider-Boy, Jessica Drew, and possibly Elektra, Luke Cage, or She-Hulk. That’s more than even the odds. Hopefully, he's not too stubborn to ask for help.
Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow to see if Spider-Man goes this alone or swallows his pride.
