It's time; Agatha All Along has officially arrived on Disney Plus and it is set to continue bewitching our lives throughout the remainder of the spooky season. The Marvel Studios spooktacular will run over the course of seven weeks, with a special double-episode finale streaming just prior to Halloween, making the show the joint-longest Marvel Cinematic Universe series yet, sharing a nine-episode count with WandaVision, She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, and What If...?.

Speaking of the MCU, Agatha All Along is indeed a part of the Marvel Studios franchise, as its 11th TV series produced for Disney Plus. But, as we've seen in the past, that doesn't mean you have to watch every single project in the franchise to understand it. In fact, as it has a standalone Special Presentation quality about it, few titles are entirely necessary to watch before it to grasp what is going on. There are, however, two titles that you would benefit from watching.

So, if you're planning on watching Agatha All Along during the Halloween season, here are the MCU titles you should check out first.

WandaVision

As Agatha All Along is a spinoff of WandaVision, it would make sense to watch the original MCU Disney Plus series first. After all, it's where we first met Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness, a.k.a. Agnes of Westview, as she made her MCU debut in the 2021 show.

The nine-episode series takes its cues from the classic sitcoms of yesteryear but all you have to do is watch a trailer to quickly see that not all is what it seems. It focuses on apparent newlyweds Wanda Maximoff and Vision, who move into their brand new home in Westview. They quickly befriend nosy neighbor Agnes and begin to go about living their lives, guarding their superpowers from all those around them as if it were an episode of Bewitched.

Aside from introducing Agatha, WandaVision places the focus on Wanda, whose presence continues to play an overarching role in Agatha All Along, even if Elizabeth Olsen doesn't actually appear in it. It also proved to be one of the most pivotal titles in the MCU's entire catalog and is worth a watch alone for how extraordinary it is.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

While Agatha herself doesn't appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the 2022 movie furthers Wanda Maximoff's story as she evolves into the more powerful Scarlet Witch. The Scarlet Witch herself is unstoppable - a being capable of spontaneous creation - but when powered by the Darkhold, her power is multiplied even further.

Set after the events of the Disney Plus series, Wanda seeks to travel to other worlds to find alternate versions of her children, Tommy and Billy Maximoff, but her methods put her at odds with Doctor Strange, leading to the multiversal adventure for the two.

Though not a necessary watch to enjoy Agatha All Along, it is helpful when it comes to understanding who the Scarlet Witch is and the role that the Darkhold plays in the lore.

Got more time? Here's the Scarlet Witch's whole journey through the MCU if you want to be totally prepared for Agatha All Along

Elizabeth Olsen may not reprise her role as Wanda Maximoff in Agatha All Along but the character does have an overarching presence on the spooky series. After all, she was directly responsible for the state of confusion that Agnes finds herself in at the beginning of the show.

If Agatha All Along is your first venture into the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and you would like to start from the beginning of the Scarlet Witch's journey, here are all the movies you need to see to understand the character and her backstory.

Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
WandaVision (2021) - nine-episode Disney Plus series
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Agatha All Along (2024) - nine-episode Disney Plus series

Again, all of the titles prior to WandaVision aren't necessary to understanding Agatha Harkness' backstory so that makes them optional, but if you did have extra time and wanted to understand Wanda Maximoff, then have fun because it's an epic journey for the Scarlet Witch!

Agatha All Along is currently streaming new episodes on Disney Plus every Wednesday at 6pm PT and 9pm ET.
