Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is just one of those amazing titles we can't get enough of. Its amazing traversal, engaging story, and explosive combat undoubtedly made it one of the standout games of 2023. Peter and Miles' latest adventure even received seven nominations in The Game Awards including Game of the Year, signaling how beloved it was (though if it failed to bring any award home).

However, even when Insomniac crafted an amazing project worthy of all the praise it gets, we can't deny it has one major flaw. After the credits roll on Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and players complete all of the side-quests... well, there's nothing else to do.

It's true that most single-player games don't have much going for them aside from their main story, but certain features could add a lot to their replay value as well. New Game Plus is the perfect example since it allows players to complete the main campaign again with all of their unlockables (such as suits, powers, or gadgets) available from the beginning. Although it's common for most AAA games to ship with this feature ready since launch day, it (unfortunately) is still nowhere to be found in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Players wondered when would Insomniac add New Game Plus to its latest title, and while we were left in the dark for quite some time we now have a definitive answer. Thanks to a statement in Insomniac's social media accounts, we now know the highly expected update is coming in early 2024. Best of all, it will also include other major features that will surely make true believers around the world happy.

Aside from the excitement that New Game Plus brings, it's also worth noting that the ability to select specific missions will also make its way into Marvel's Spider-Man 2. What if you liked the final boss but didn't want to replay the whole story just to get to that point? Well, with the upcoming update, you'll be able to fight Venom at any point (provided you've already faced him at least once).

Players will be able to go through their favorite sections of the game while also skipping the parts they didn't like, which is surely a welcome addition. While these features should come out of the box in all modern games, it's nice to hear Insomniac listened to the player's feedback and is actively working on bringing them to Marvel's Spider-Man 2 as soon as possible.

Audio description, the ability to change the time of day, and swap tendril colors when using the symbiote suit will also be other major features to be added in the upcoming update. Not having a specific release date or a complete list of patch notes can be disheartening, but 2024 is just around the corner. The closer we get, the more information Insomniac will release.

It's just a matter of time before we all dive into Marvel's Spider-Man 2 again with new features including the highly anticipated New Game Plus, and we can't wait for that to happen.
