On May 2, Deadline unveiled a thrilling update: The talented and recent Emmy award winner Paul Walter Hauser has officially joined the cast of The Fantastic Four, adding a new layer of intrigue to the upcoming reboot. The film is slated to start filming this summer as they race towards a Summer 2025 theatrical release.

The trade also reported that Hauser’s role is being kept under wraps and has not been disclosed, along with the continued trend and confirmation that no plot details have been revealed.

Hauser now joins the growing ensemble which is comprised and led by Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones, The Last of Us) as Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic; Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning) as Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman; Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch; and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Punisher, The Bear) as Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.

The most recent addition was when Julia Garner joined the project one month ago. She was announced to be playing the Shalla-Ball variant of the Silver Surfer.

Now, it does feel that Marvel Studios' creative masterminds are trying to balance attention and innovation by highlighting and positioning Marvel’s first family in what feels like an adjacent universe separated from the mainstream sacred timeline of Earth 616.

Marvel Studios' creative minds seem to be striking a balance between familiarity and innovation. The futuristic art deco setting, reminiscent of the Jetsons, offers a glimpse into the unique direction this reboot will take, distinguishing it from the previous versions under 20th-century Fox.

One question I’m still waiting to see, as it feels like the next domino to fall, is when Marvel or Trades would announce the actor helming the eater of worlds, Galactus himself, as it feels the anticipation behind this project is only building to something special, and hopefully, a reflection of the days of old while carving a path into the future, and the present.

Director Matt Shakman is the man behind the lens and leading the charge. He is best known for his prior work with Marvel on Wandavision and the hit Apple+ series Moncharch: Legacy of Monsters. Shakman will direct a script from scribes Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, Eric Pearson, and Ian Springer.

Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four is set touchdown in theaters on July 25, 2025.
