7. "What If... Hela Found the Ten Rings?" (Season 2, episode 7)

What If...? season 1 couldn't play with much of the MCU's timeline post-Phase Three since it was one of the first Phase Four titles, so it's really cool to see season 2 wasting little time doing that with an episode that reimagines the events leading up to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and merging them with the events of Thor. The result brings Hela to Earth in search of a crown - and power- that her father, Odin, has stripped her of. But that leads her to Wenwu, who possesses the power of the Ten Rings.

The real thrill of this episode was hearing Cate Blanchett bring Hela to life once more. There is so much uncharted territory with the character, and Blanchett returns to the role with such ease, effortlessly capturing that powerful and sultry tone she is known for. It's also rather thrilling to see her arc unfold, with her training in Ta Lo being a joy to watch and the culmination of the episode producing one of the season's greatest moments.

There could have been a bit more development in the relationships department as a lot just happens, but this episode is an experience in oh-so-many ways, and it thrives because of that.
