2. Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spider-Man: Far From Home was released shortly after Avengers: Endgame made waves across the world, wrapping up the MCU's overarching Infinity Stones storyline. For that reason, you might be forgiven if you didn't know that Spidey's sophomore adventure is actually the final movie in the Infinity Saga; not Endgame.

But there is a reason for that, as Far From Home is all about legacy. With Tony Stark gone, Peter feels the weight of the responsibility of living up to his mentor's legacy. He inadvertently looks for a new mentor in the wrong places and has to overcome a threat by looking in the right place; within himself. And that provides us with the moment in which Peter Parker becomes the Spider-Man we all know and love.

We don't talk enough about how good Spider-Man: Far From Home is. Peter's character arc is among the most compelling in the MCU and Tom Holland delivers one of his finest performances, carrying a very ambitious movie over the finish line. It's powerful stuff; and equally powerful is his chemistry with Zendaya, as the Peter and MJ relationship finally begins to take center stage.

Jake Gyllenhaal provides us with a strong, complex villain in Mysterio who serves as a fitting foe for Spider-Man given everything he is feeling in that moment. That final showdown in London is also incredibly impressive and very entertaining.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is one of the franchise's most earnest movies. Like its predecessor, it's charming, full of joy, and moving at the same time. It's also very funny, with some of the wittiest lines of dialogue and most enjoyable sequences the franchise has given us in recent years. And given how all of us viewers were still feeling the emotional impact of Avengers: Endgame, this light-hearted, silly, and hopeful movie was the perfect epilogue for one of cinema's greatest stories.
