4. Professor Hulk

The Incredible Hulk is one of the most famous superheroes of all time. Since he was the star of his own '70s TV series, the character has been a household name but it's only in the last two decades that he has been a silver screen titan too.

He joined the MCU in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, in which he was portrayed by Edward Norton. His next appearance saw him recast with Mark Ruffalo, and boy what a journey he has been on since. Hulk has become one of the most beloved Avengers, with Bruce Banner always going green whenever danger is near. However, in recent years, fans have been incredibly dissatisfied with the direction that the MCU has taken the character.

In fact, the issues have been there as far back as 2015 if you really look. The relationship between him and Black Widow was odd and not well-received, while even the acclaimed Thor: Ragnarok leaned on him for humor. And from there, he became something of a recurring joke, as audiences were always expected to laugh at the Hulk.

Here's the thing: They do it quite well. Mark Ruffalo is so funny and the witty writing always provides the laughs, but there is just one problem: None of this is the Incredible Hulk we know and love. The Professor Hulk iteration, which merged the two personalities (and bodies) completely goes against everything the character stands for while essentially stripping the Hulk personality from Banner completely. While it's not as constant as it was, he was once again played for laughs in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.

We've only had one Hulk movie in the MCU and Ruffalo didn't even star in it. While a sequel would be ideal, fans would just be happy if they restored the character to his former glory and bring The Incredible Hulk back.
