8. Caitlin Snow and Hunter Zolomon

Caitlin Snow's relationship with Ronnie Raymond was a big emotional hook in The Flash's first season but the second quickly discarded that when Ronnie died. Caitlin didn't get that much of grief arc before "Jay Garrick" (who we would later learn was actually Hunter Zolomon, a.k.a. Zoom) came along.

It's not that there wasn't chemistry between Caitlin and Hunter, because there was, but it just felt all kinds of wrong to put the character in a relationship with someone else so quickly after Ronnie died, especially as season 1 had invested so much time and energy into their love story. Sure, time had passed thanks to a time-jump, but fans still didn't buy the romance and knew something else was going on.

The reveal that "Jay" was actually Hunter confirmed those suspicions and it left those fans feeling angry that Caitlin had once again had her chance at happiness snatched away from her. And this would become a recurring theme for the show as she yet again found herself romantically coupled with a main character that impacted The Flash's central storyline in season 3 (Julian Albert). Caitlin deserved better than that and the fans were very vocal about it. Honestly, I see their point.
