Despite following the Insidious franchise and generally liking the movies, it took me a while to watch the latest installment, The Red Door, after reading the negative reviews. I love Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne, and the first Insidious movie is one of my favorites in the genre. I love the second one, too! But after over a decade of this series, do we really need more? The Red Door proves we probably don't.

Insidious: The Red Door serves as a direct sequel to Insidious: Chapter 2, taking place nearly 10 years later. Josh and Renai have divorced, and sadly Josh's mother Lorraine has recently passed away. Josh has a strained relationship with his family, particularly his son Dalton, who's about to go off to college. But Dalton is also forming a connection with The Further again, not knowing what it is, and needs help.

I don't hate Insidious: The Red Door, but I just don't have any strong feelings about it at all, which isn't great. The movie leans into heartfelt family moments which I like, especially because I'm attached to the characters at this point, but otherwise, it's completely forgettable. There's nothing new here worth watching.
