6. No One Will Save You

My biggest complaint about No One Will Save You is that it wasn't released in theaters! What is 20th Century doing, honestly? The unique alien movie starring Kaitlyn Dever could've been a success at the box office and would've been way more enjoyable to watch on the big screen. Oh well.

The movie, directed by Brian Duffield, follows a young woman named Brynn living in isolation in a small town. Having been ostracized by those around her, she lives a pretty quiet and lonely life. But when she survives a home invasion from some sort of alien creature, she's desperate for help and support.

There's not a lot of dialogue in No One Will Save You but it's full of tension from start to finish, making this a very engaging watch with a fantastic lead.

5. M3GAN

M3GAN was one of the first popular horror movies of 2023 and it certainly made an impact on pop culture. The campy horror-comedy was directed by Gerard Johnstone and is about an AI doll that's much smarter than anyone could've imagined. And she's very protective over the ones she loves.

Allison Williams plays Gemma in M3GAN, a roboticist who is working on developing the doll when her eight-year-old niece Cady comes to live with her after a tragedy. Cady is dealing with the loss of her parents, and Gemma, not having much experience with children, figures maybe the doll will cheer her up. And while that's true, M3GAN also becomes territorial over Cady and will hurt anyone who poses a threat to her or their relationship.

Possessed dolls are seldom scary, so I like that M3GAN took the silly, campy route. It reminds me of Bride of Chucky in that regard.
