9. When Laura Lee dies in the plane crash in season 1, episode 8

Laura Lee was one of the Yellowjackets team members who was really determined to leave the wilderness. After Taissa, Van, Misty, and Mari's expedition to find help failed, Laura Lee took it upon herself to find another way back home. She decided she was going to take the dead guy's plane that the Yellowjackets found near the cabin and fly it to find help for her teammates. While many of the Yellowjackets weren't necessarily fond of Laura Lee, they were desperate to leave the wilderness. So, there wasn't much pushback when Laura Lee announced her plan.

Although Laura Lee knew piloting the plane was a risky decision, her strong faith in God, her intensive studying of the flight manual, and her short experiences with her grandfather flying a plane led her to believe that she could actually pilot a plane by herself. She manages to get the plane up in the air and fly it, but after only a couple of minutes, she notices that her teddy bear sitting in the passenger seat has caught fire. The fire quickly spreads throughout the entire plane, and within seconds, the plane blows up. Laura Lee tragically loses her life as the rest of the Yellowjackets watch from afar.
