In this modern world of streaming services, you never know what movie or TV show you might stumble across when endlessly scrolling through each of their libraries. Sometimes, it's a long-forgotten classic that people aren't talking about anymore, and others it's a major blockbuster that took the world by the storm.

Netflix is particularly good for that, as it continues to expand its library, adding new titles each month and reaching its millions of subscribers with them. Sometimes, it even treats us to a superhero movie or two. Granted, the service isn't as known for superhero content since it stopped producing the Marvel Netflix shows, but it still has a trick or two up its sleeve to keep the comic book fans engaged from time-to-time.

Last month, they added a long-forgotten Marvel movie to their line-up, and now there is a recent, underrated DC movie among their new arrivals.

The Flash is coming to Netflix on June 25

Netflix has confirmed which new titles will be coming to the streamer in the month of June, and The Flash is listed among the new arrivals. It will make its Netflix premiere on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

The film was released in 2023 and it was a pivotal installment for the struggling DC Extended Universe franchise. It starred Ezra Miller in the title role as they finally got the chance to play Barry Allen in the solo movie fans had been waiting years for. Unfortunately, the actor was making headlines for other reasons, and that overshadowed the film, which was supposed to reset the DCEU so that it could transition into the new DC Universe. It technically did just that, but it sadly bombed at the box office.

The Flash received mixed reviews but Michael Keaton earned praise for his performance, as he reprised his iconic role as Batman for the first time in 30 years, playing a retired Dark Knight who returned to action to help Barry save his timeline. Sahsa Calle also received praise for her performance as Supergirl.

While the film significantly underperformed at the box office and became one of the most expensive flops of all time, it has enjoyed a great deal of success on streaming. It was a hit for WarnerMedia streaming service Max (formerly HBO Max) when it premiered on that last year, so there is quite a big chance that it could also perform extremely well for Netflix.

The film's release on Netflix is also a welcome surprise as the vast majority of DCEU movies departed the streaming service a number of months back, limiting the amount of DC content that was on it. The arrival of The Flash (the second-last DCEU movie) will undoubtedly be music to fans' ears.

Even though The Flash did not live up to the extreme levels of hype that its marketing campaign was leaning on, it's still an incredibly enjoyable superhero movie. Its CGI is very questionable in places and the humor is a bit overdone, but there's a strong and compelling story at its core, and the film comes to life the moment that Keaton steps onto the screen. It's worth it alone just to see him back in the Batsuit, because he is outstanding.

It's also pretty ironic that the Flash movie is going to Netflix, as it will join The CW's The Flash TV series on the service. Over the past decade, it has been heavily discussed which of the two versions of the character were better, and now Netflix fans can get in on the debate too as all nine seasons of the show are currently streaming on the platform, while The Flash movie will premiere on June 25.
