Percy Jackson and the Olympians premieres on Disney+ on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023. Disney+ is releasing the first two episodes of the eight-episode first season on its premiere date. That means you can stream both episodes as soon as they're available. There are so many Percy Jackson fans thanks to Rick Riordan's bestselling book series of the same name. It feels like we've all been waiting forever for this story to be brought to life. I know where I'll be tonight.

UPDATE: The first two episodes Percy Jackson and the Olympians is now on Disney+ as of 9 p.m. ET and 6:00 p.m. PT on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023.

Unfortunately, we thought both episodes were dropping quite late for US subscribers. It looked like Disney+ release Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 1 and 2 at 12:00 a.m. PT and 3:00 a.m. ET on Wednesday, Dec. 20.

New episodes available to stream:

  • Episode 1: "I Accidentally Vaporize My Pre-Algebra Teacher"
  • Episode 2: "I Become Supreme Lord of the Bathroom"

The first episode only will also be available to stream on Hulu, but if you watch it on Hulu and want to watch more, you'll need to subscribe to Disney+ after that first episode.

Based on the reviews, you definitely don't want to miss this show, though. It's easily the best TV show coming during the holiday season. Walker Scobell stars as Percy Jackson, along with Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood. Virginia Kull, Megan Mullally, Lance Reddick, Glynn Turman, Jason Mantzoukas, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Toby Stephens, Adam Copeland, Jay Duplass, Dior Goodjohn, Charlie Bushnell, Suzanne Cryer, Jessica Parker Kennedy, and Timothy Omundson round out the rest of the cast.

The first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is based on The Lightning Thief, the first book of Riordan's series. It follows Percy, a 12-year-old demigod, who learns he is the son of a Greek God, is pursued by monsters, and must find a new home at Camp Half-Blood, a haven on Earth for children of the Gods. Shortly after arriving, Percy is chosen for a quest to find Zeus's missing lightning and stop a major war from breaking out among the Gods.

Based on the episode titles of the first two episodes, which are the same as a few chapters of The Lightning Thief, we can expect the series to follow the book pretty closely and really get into this story.

Episode 3 release date and time

We're getting the first two episodes of Percy Jackson and the Olympians on the same day, but then, Disney+ is switching to a weekly release schedule. The third episode of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, titled "We Visit the Garden Gnome Emporium," will be released at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET on Wednesday, Dec. 27. Book readers know what happens in that episode, and it's going to be so awesome!

It's possible that Disney could drop the new episode early, like the first two episodes, but that has not been confirmed.

After that, new episodes will be released on Disney+ each week through the season finale on Jan. 31. The season of Percy Jackson is here, and I couldn't be more excited for what we're going to see over the next month and a half on Disney+.
