Percy Jackson and the Olympians is officially halfway through the first season on Disney+, and it's getting so good. As a huge Percy Jackson fan, this show is everything I could have hoped for, and it's getting even better with every episode. Luckily, we don't have long to wait until Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 5 is released on Disney+.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 1, episode 5, "A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers," will be released on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, at 6 p.m. PT and 9 p.m. ET. New episodes of Percy Jackson were going to drop on Wednesdays throughout December and January, but on the day before the premiere, Disney changed the new episode release schedule for Percy Jackson and the Olympians. New episodes are now coming to Disney+ every Tuesday night, instead of Wednesday. Again, we don't know why it happened, but yes, we will take the episodes early, please.

"A God Buys Us A Cheeseburger" (Episode 5) Preview

At the end of "I Plunge to My Death," the fourth episode of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Percy (Walker Scobell) plunges into the Mississippi through a hole created by Echidna (Suzanne Cryer) and the Chimera in the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. Percy survives, thanks to his pops, Poseidon, and Percy learns how, for the first time, to breathe underwater before the episode ends.

We don't know what's next with Echidna and the Chimera, but the end of the fourth episode reveals a look at what's to come. The short teaser begins with Percy and Annabeth (Leah Jeffries) standing at the gates of Waterland, an amusement park. Where is Grover (Aryan Simhadri)? We don't quite know yet!

The teaser is intercut with Percy and Annabeth on a ride at night at Waterland. We also see a shot of Percy and Annabeth hugging. Percy is soaking wet, so it looks like this is their first interaction since Percy fell out of the Gateway Arch and ended up in the Mississippi River.

Additionally, there are a few other things we need to point out. For the first time, it looks like Percy meets the God of War, Ares, played by Adam Copeland. The Fates appear to Percy, as well, with their knitting needles and yarn. That's never a good sign for a hero! There's also a look at a shield, potentially Ares' shield. Percy is also sitting on a throne of gold, of some kind, and Annabeth is begging him to get up. That also doesn't look good!

Throughout the trailer, Percy's voiceover says:

"My mom told me these stories all the time. She said this what the Gods are like to each other. This is the kind of family they are. "

Unfortunately, we don't have the necessary permissions to share the trailer for Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 5, but you can watch it at the end of the fourth episode on Disney+ right now.

What's next in episode 5?

Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 1 is based on The Lightning Thief by the real god, Rick Riordan, so we have a pretty solid blueprint to follow for what to expect in the new episode. There are some big changes in The Lightning Thief, so even if you've read the books, there are bound to be things that surprise you. Some of the bigger plot points remain the same, but we'd expect things to change quite a bit as the season progresses.

No spoilers about what happens next, but there are a lot of big developments in this episode. It definitely sets the stage for what's to come the rest of the season. This has all the makings of one of the best episodes of the series so far!
