Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 6 preview, release time, and what's next

Percy, Annabeth, and Grover are on their way to Las Vegas to try to convince Hermes to take them the rest of the way to Los Angeles at the end of "A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers," the fifth episode of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. In the episode, they recovered Ares' shield from Hephaestus amusement park in exchange for a lift to Vegas.

On Disney+, there's a quick preview for episode 6 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, "We Take a Zebra to Vegas." We shared what happens in the teaser trailer before the episode drops on the streaming service on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024.

Here's the synopsis for the sixth episode:

"Percy, Annabeth, and Grover must resist the alluring draw of a casino that feels outside of time. "

In the preview for the sixth episode, we see some important clips. Grover pops his head out of the semi to reveal they're approaching Las Vegas. In the truck, Percy is holding some interesting crystal in one short clip. We don't know what it is, but it's glowing!

"There's more to this than just the bolt," Percy says. "Something bigger."

They meet Hermes at The Lotus Hotel. Percy says, "We have a huge problem." He tackles someone, and then crashes a yellow cab with Annabeth and Grover in the back.

In the final clip of the teaser, Percy is trapped underwater!

When does episode 6 come out?

"We Take a Zebra to Vegas" will be released on Disney+ on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 6 p.m. PT and 9 p.m. ET. That's when Disney has been adding each new episode of the season. The series is getting a primetime release on the streaming service throughout the rest of January 2024. Unfortunately, after episode 6, there are only two episodes of the first season left.

Originally, Disney was going to release new episodes on Wednesdays throughout the first season, but the day before the season was supposed to premiere, Disney released the first two episodes early. They changed the release dates from Wednesdays to Tuesdays, so now you can watch new episodes of the series on Tuesdays.

What's next in episode 6?

Let's take a closer look at what happens in the preview and compare it to what happens in The Lightning Thief.

From the preview, we know that Percy, Annabeth, and Grover are headed to The Lotus Hotel. They are seeking out Hermes with the hope that he'll help them get to Santa Monica where Percy will receive help from his father and they'll find the entrance to the underworld. There, they'll travel Hades' kingdom, save Sally Jackson, and find the Master Bolt. They'll give the Master Bolt to Zeus and avoid war. That's the plan anyway. We know it's not going to be that easy, but our demigods are as close as they've been to the entrance to the Underworld, but they'll need a little bit of help.

It doesn't quite go down like this in the book. Yes, they do accept passage and some gifts from Ares, and they do make it to Las Vegas before Percy sets all the animals in the back of the truck they're riding in free. They take refuge in the seemingly magical Lotus Hotel and Casion, but time doesn't work the same here. Percy, Annabeth, and Grover take their foot off the gas, so to speak, before they put their foot on the gas in a taxi headed for Santa Monica.

Based on what we've seen in the preview, Percy, Annabeth, and Grover will have a hard time in Vegas, but it looks like they'll be reaching Los Angeles in the sixth episode.
