Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 8 preview, release time, and what to expect in the season finale
By Bryce Olin
It's officially season finale time, demigods, and I'm not ready for it. I don't want the first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians to end, but it's almost here. "The Prophecy Comes True," the eighth and final episode of season 1, airs on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024.
It all comes down to this for Percy, Annabeth, and Grover. At the end of the seventh episode, "We Find Out the Truth, Sort Of," Percy and Grover escape from the Underworld with the Master Bolt, leaving Percy's mom, Sally Jackson, behind with Hades.
When they arrive on the beach, Ares is waiting for Percy, and it's about to go down! We also expect that, because he says so in the final scene of the episode, Poseidon, played by Toby Stephens will be there when Percy is ready. Seems like now would be a good time!
In the teaser at the end of episode 7, we see Percy kneeling before Thalia's tree. We see him walking around Camp Half-Blood. Chiron's voiceover says, "You have to be very careful. You are more than a hero now. You are a leader in the eyes of your fellow half-bloods."
Percy sees a cabin on the beach, the same beach where we saw Ares and Percy about to fight. We also see Percy taking a little spin up the elevator to Olympus after slamming the Master Bolt on the doorman's desk at the Empire State Building. "I'm here to see Zeus," Percy says. "I don't have an appointment."
We see Percy walking up to what appears to be Zeus, played by Lance Reddick. Then, we're back on the beach with Percy and Ares charging at each other, swords drawn. What an epic teaser!
So, that's what's going to happen in the season finale. After reading The Lightning Thief, I strongly suspect there are a few very important scenes missing!
What time is the Percy Jackson and the Olympians season finale?
Percy Jackson and the Olympians season finale, "The Prophecy Comes True," will be released on Disney+ at 6 p.m. PT and 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024. Disney has been dropping new episodes every Tuesday night since December 19, and it's worked well. Ratings for Percy Jackson and the Olympians are great, and fans from all over the world are tuning in to watch Percy, Annabeth, and Grover achieve their impossible quest.
We know there will be a lot of spoilers floating around online, so make sure you watch the season finale close to the time it's released. Or, you could stay off social media! You don't want to get the season finale spoiled, trust me!
Unfortunately, Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 has not been ordered yet. We're confident it will happen, but this will be the last episode of Percy Jackson and the Olympians for a while.
What to expect in Episode 8
Mild spoilers for The Lightning Thief!
Obviously, millions of fans already know how Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 1 will end. The series is based on Rick Riordan's The Lightning Thief, which sets the stage for what's to come in the other four Percy Jackson and the Olympians books.
Instead of discussing what happens in the books because it could be very different, let's look at what we know happens based on the teaser trailer and preview. We know Percy and Ares will duel. Percy believes that Ares is responsible for taking the Helm of Darkness and collaborating with Clarisse, his daughter, to steal Zeus's Master Bolt to launch a war against Poseidon and Zeus, which would draw the attention and resources away from Olympus, which would open up the return of Kronos, the Titan, and father of many of the Gods.
Then, Percy returns to Camp Half-Blood after taking a little spin at Olympus to give Zeus his Master Bolt, or vice versa. Maybe he goes to camp before dropping off the bolt? We don't know.
Now, let's remember the episode title. "The Prophecy Comes True" is the title of the season finale. Here's the prophecy:
"You shall go West and face the God who has turned, you shall find what was stolen and see it safely returned, you shall be betrayed by the one who calls you friend, and fail to save what matters most in the end."
Who is the God who turned? What was stolen that needs to be safely returned? Who is the friend who betrays Percy? And, what matters most in the end?
We'll find out in the season finale of Percy Jackson and the Olympians!
