On Jan 7, 2024, celebrations were established for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney as the duo won Emmy awards for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program for their work on Welcome to Wrexham, but it came with a twist.

Instead of Reynolds being the one to accept the award, the surprise guest was the Merc with the Mouth, Deadpool, who took Reynold’s place or as the Marvel comics anti-hero now dubbed the actor "Mr. Lively" by adding is a very busy man. In turn, his appearance broke the fourth wall and acknowledged the real-life relationship and marriage of Reynolds and his wife, actress Blake Lively.

The Deadpool 3 star shared the funny video message in costume, wearing the iconic mask,  and thanked everyone involved in bringing Welcome to Wrexham to the screen. Near the end of the viral clip, Wade Wilson said Reynolds has made a promise not to "f**k up my next movie." Which happens to be the third installment in the Deadpool franchise, and the only Marvel Studios film coming out this year.

Now, it does feel like a taste and a small sample to reassure the hardcore fans and general audiences alike that marketing for the latest MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe adventure) has officially begun. Since the film is slated for release this summer, many have theorized that a possible teaser or official trailer could possibly debut next month during the Super Bowl, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Again, this is all food for thought, as the official details for the third film in the Deadpool trilogy still haven’t been unveiled, besides the confirmation that Hugh Jackman is returning to sharpen his iconic claws as Wolverine and will, in turn, don the iconic yellow and blue comic-accurate costume.

Currently, filming has resumed on the project since December 6, 2023, when Reynolds took to social media and shared a public statement that urged fans not to share spoilers and leaks from the set due to the latest Marvel film being shot outside.  Reynold’s statement read

“Here’s hoping some of the websites and social channels hold back showing images before they’re ready,” Reynolds’ statement continued. “The film is built for audience joy — and our highest hope is to preserve as much of that magic as possible for the finished film and the big screen. Part of the reason people post spoilers is because they’re excited. I realize these aren’t real world issues and it’s firmly in the “good problems” bucket. I love making this movie.”

The rest of the cast is rounded out by Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) And Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio) will all return as their respective characters. Newcomers to the franchise are Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), whose roles are still under wraps.

Deadpool 3 is set to hit theaters on July 26, 2024. It will also be the first R-rated film in the MCU.
