What would you do if you had one wish? Are you wishing for money, power, or something for your loved ones? When thinking about their wishes, people don’t wonder how it affects everyone else. Imagine if everyone in the world (the good, the bad, and the indifferent) received a genie. Writer Charles Soule (Star Wars: Darth Vader, Death of Wolverine) showed the chaos that would ensue if that happened during his comic book Eight Billion Genies.

As reported by ComingSoon.net, Seth Rogen (The Boys, Gen Z, and Preacher) and Evan Goldberg (This is the End and Superbad) will be charged with bringing Soule's story to life in an Amazon adaptation of the comic. That is great news for fans of the source material.

Eight Billion Genies shows the gift and the curse of every wish. Normally, that means only the bad. In this story, you’re shown everything. Some people wanted eternal youth not realizing they’d watch their loved ones die while they lived on. Others asked for money to keep their family healthy and safe. Unfortunately, when a lot of people wish for wealth, everyone ends up where they started.

There's more than the good and the bad with the actual wish. Some indecisive people never made wishes. This causes all sorts of problems like bartering wishes for other things or selling them to would-be despots. In short, it’s a great look into the mind of humanity with a lot of fantasy and fun sprinkled in.

Why Seth Rogen is right for the job

Seth Rogen knows what people want from superhero shows. He understands that comic book readers are the ones that made original stories popular. He also gets that comic book fans alone can’t keep a franchise afloat. In order for a superhero show to succeed, you have to please both sides. It’s one of the reasons why Invincible and The Boys are as popular as they are. They're more than just a good show. They stay as close to the source material as possible.

The other reason is Seth Rogen picks his projects carefully. He needs the creative team to have the freedom to build without judgment, taking risks and telling new stories. Look no further than Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem; at the end of the movie, the turtles go to high school. They're getting the opportunity to live normal lives. It's an unprecedented move that breathed new life into the TMNT franchise.

Never bet against Seth Rogen when it comes to adult comic book projects. Eight Billion Genies now stands a chance of being as popular as Invincible and The Boys.
