10 shocking things I learned rewatching the MCU movies
1. WandaVision is the best MCU title
Wow does WandaVision hold up well. The show that baffled, bewildered, and dazzled us all at the same time had the benefit of being the first MCU title in some time, the first Disney Plus series, and the first of Phase Four, so we all tuned in each week and waited on the edges of our seats for answers. Even watching it back, knowing the answers, it's every bit as thrilling a watch.
The vast majority of the MCU's outings have aged well, so WandaVision doing so too is not a surprise. But the show that had a lot going for it whenever we did watch it is still worthy of all of the accolades and achievements all these years later. It was a thrill to watch it then and it's still a thrill to watch it now.
The series garnered Marvel Studios it's first ever Emmy nominations, and it earned the superhero genre nominations in categories that it was previously overlooked in. That's not a coincidence, for when you watch it in context, you'll see that it is, objectively, the strongest title in the whole MCU.
The comedic timing is wonderful, the performances divine, and the mature exploration of Wanda's grief is perhaps the finest arc Marvel Studios has ever told. Irrespective of whether you agree with where that arc took her in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, WandaVision remains a stunning example of nuanced storytelling.
It's still the MCU's greatest accomplishment.
