5. Phase Five is the worst Phase thus far

Remember the days when people would drag Phase One for being the weakest simply because it consisted of solo movies and origin stories? Well, the one thing those people failed to realize that they were good solo movies and origin stories. And sure, Iron Man 2 might be pretty bland and The Incredible Hulk might feel a little retroactively pointless, but they're still decent movies.

Phase Five, on the other hand, can't really hold a candle to any of the other phases. It just can't. From misfires like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania to that continued feeling of directionless that the MCU has found itself in, it just struggles to say anything pretty early on. Its biggest issue was undoubtedly Disney Plus series Secret Invasion, that dragged its six episodes out beyond belief and featured some poor storytelling choices that harmed the MCU more than it helped it.

There have been some really bright spots in Phase Five thus far in Loki season 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 but the rest of it has been a bit all over the place. There are some exciting titles coming up from it, so hopefully it gets itself back on track. But after Phase Four's struggles to stay on those tracks, Phase Five needed to be better than it is.

Unfortunately for it, Phase Five has now become the MCU's weakest phase thus far.
