Star Trek: Discovery

A beloved Star Trek series is heading to its end, and we know Trekkies around the galaxy are sad about this one! Discovery premiered on CBS and CBS All Access (now known as Paramount+) in Sept. 2017, set about a decade before the events of the original Star Trek series. As evidenced by its title, the show follows the crew members of the USS Discovery. It was created by Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, American Gods) and Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness), and saw positive reactions in its first season, leading to a super quick renewal. The show has been a hit for CBS Studios, with each season receiving critical acclaim.

Star Trek: Discovery centers around a human named Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) who was raised as a Vulcan, following her journey as a key member of the crew. Like most Star Trek stories, Discovery deals with themes of exploration, morality, and the human condition. Throughout the seasons, we've seen many exciting galactic story arcs unfold, including war, parallel universes, the alien race, and more.

The success of Discovery has been fantastic for the Star Trek franchise, as it's allowed other spinoffs and projects to be green-lit, including Star Trek: Strange New Worlds which debuted in 2022. The show has been nominated for a long list of awards and won two Emmys for visual effects and prosthetic makeup.

It was announced in Jan. 2022 that Discovery will return for a fifth and final season, consisting of 10 episodes, which will be released in April 2024. We hope the conclusion is everything Star Trek fans are hoping for and more!
