9 shows in danger of being canceled in 2024 including The Mandalorian

A number of shows will be ending in 2024 and we have a bad feeling The Mandalorian and these other hit shows could join that list.

A new year is officially upon us and 2024 is already shaping up to be quite a turbulent year for television.

The repercussions of the 2023 writers' and actors' strikes continue to be felt. While many shows will be returning soon on the broadcast front, we still have a long wait ahead for many hit streaming shows and series from cable networks. Not only are we expecting delayed returns for many shows, but we've also started to see networks final seasoning long-running shows.

Thus far, broadcast has been taking the hardest hit with several hit shows set to come to a close in the year ahead. Sadly, we expect that list to grow as the year wages on and it's only a matter of time before the streaming services, in particular, begin to pull the plug on some of their existing series either by canceling them entirely or by handing out a final season order.

So which shows are we most worried about? Let's take a look at the shows we have a bad feeling could be in danger of being canceled in the year ahead.

Note: For the purpose of this particular piece, we're simply looking at streaming original shows that fall into the sci-fi, fantasy, and comic book genres.

The Mandalorian

The Mandalorian should seem like a surefire thing for Disney+, but the odds of a fourth season happening are looking a bit less likely now that Disney has confirmed it has green-lit a Mandalorian movie.

With The Mandalorian and Grogu heading to the big screen, we can't imagine Disney would still look to produce a fourth season in addition to the movie. Instead of using a season to build to the movie, it's more likely that Disney would shift its focus from new episodes to the movie in looking to develop a story that could be told in a tighter window of time. That doesn't mean a fourth season might not happen, but we won't be surprised if the series' television run has come to an end.
