Hearing about a new Star Trek movie script with Jean-Luc Picard in mind definitely tickles my curiosity. It's intriguing, especially with Sir Patrick Stewart's enthusiasm about it while speaking about it in an episode of the podcast Happy Sad Confused. Stewart, even at 83, seems keen on exploring even more new sides of his iconic character. His reflections on the evolution of Jean-Luc Picard, from captain to admiral to a retiree at his vineyard, show a deep connection with the role.

The podcast episode can be watched below, and Stewart is such a joy to watch. He is precious and must be protected at all costs.

But let's keep a level head here. While it's exciting to think about a new Star Trek movie, especially with Stewart involved, we've seen how unpredictable the film industry can be lately, especially when to comes to the bigger and beloved franchises. There's always a risk that projects like these might not see the light of day after getting us all excited for them, or end up being very different from what's initially promised or intended. The mention of a script in the works is just the start – there's a long journey from script to screen.

Also, considering the recent focus on the Kelvin universe and other Star Trek projects in development, it's uncertain where this Picard-focused movie would fit in the overall timeline.

Stewart's desire for new challenges and his reflections on how the character of Picard has evolved over the years do point to a potentially fresh and interesting take on the character. But until more concrete details are announced or fleshed out, it's probably wise to take this all with a grain of salt.

After all, in the vast universe of Star Trek, anything can happen, but not everything does.
