Supergirl is undoubtedly one of DC Comics' most underrated heroes. Mightier than Superman and every bit as heroic, Kara Zor-El of Krypton has been saving people in the pages of DC Comics since her debut back in 1959. She's a legend and, over the past decade, more and more people have been realizing that.

A large part of that is down to the character's recent resurgence in pop-culture due to her various live-action adaptations. The biggest example of that was the Supergirl TV series, which made its debut on CBS before moving to The CW for five more seasons. Melissa Benoist played Kara and introduced the character to a whole new audience, paving the way for her arrival in the DCEU when Sasha Calle portrayed the Girl of Steel in The Flash movie.

But Supergirl's on-screen legacy started before those properties and it will continue on past them too, as Kara will return to the big screen in the upcoming DC Universe movie Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, in which she will be played by House of the Dragon breakout Milly Alcock.

But who has delivered the best performance as the character so far? We're not just talking about the heroics either, we're looking at who plays Kara the best. From the Kryptonian woman behind the cape to the Kara Danvers/Kent/Linda Lee Danvers persona she adopts as her secret identity (but is also an extension of who she is), which version of Kara Zor-El is the best of them all?
