2023 was another eventful year for superhero movies, but not every movie was a hit.

2023 has been quite an interesting year for superhero movies.

While there have been some amazing movies from Marvel and DC to hit theaters across the year, it's been a rough year at the box office. Superhero movies used to be the most bankable movies of the year, but this year's group of superhero movies was full of underperforming surprises with only a few true hits sprinkled into the mix.

But don't let the box office returns fool you. Despite some of this year's superhero movies underperforming at the box office, there were some amazing films in the mix this year from the two biggest players in the genre. And yes, there were also some really bad superhero movies as well.

As we prepare to usher in what will be one of the quietest years for the superhero genre in 2024, join us for a look back at this year's superhero movie slate. In the slides ahead, we'll be ranking each of this year's DC and Marvel movies from worst to best. There will be surprises and there will some roasting and toasting, but hey that's what this time of year is all about, right?!
