We've been waiting for a long time for any news about when The Batman Part II is going to start filming.

Thanks to Mattson Tomlin's recent interview with Screen Rant, we finally know when production is going to start on the sequel to 2022's The Batman from Matt Reeves.

Tomlin is the co-writer of the film, along with Reeves. He shared the production start timeline with Screen Rant in a recent interview about his new series, Terminator Zero, according to the report.

Here's what Tomlin had to say about when production starts, via Screen Rant:

"It's shooting next year. We're gearing up, and I will say that the bar just couldn't be higher. It's the sequel to the first one."

Unfortunately, The Batman Part II is not starting production this year! We know fans were hoping they'd get back to work soon, but the film is slated for theatrical release beginning on Oct.2, 2026. There's a lot of time to make the movie before then!

Anything can happen, but hopefully, DC and Warner Bros. won't have to push that date back even further. The release date has already been pushed back. Was it Superman related? We'll let you be the judge on that! Originally, it looked like the film would be ready to be released on Oct. 3, 2025, but we know that's not happening.

And, speaking of those delays. Production on the sequel was supposed to begin in the fall of 2023, so they are nearly a year behind schedule. By the time production officially begins, it's likely going to be about an 18-month delay. There are unconfirmed rumors that production begins in April 2025, but we're awaiting official confirmation.

There's a lot we still don't know about The Batman Part II production, but it is great to finally hear from someone associated with the film share important information like this.

So far, we don't know who will be in The Batman Part II. It will be super exciting to learn who has been cast in the upcoming film in the near future.

We do know that Robert Pattinson is back as Bruce Wayne / Batman, along with Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle / Catwoman, Colin Farrell as Ozwald Cobblepot / The Penguin, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Paul Dano as Riddler, and Barry Keoghan as The Joker. Outside of that group, we're expecting a few major casting announcements, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Plus, we also should mention that The Penguin starring Colin Farrell premieres on HBO and MAX on Sept. 19. There are eight episodes in the first season of The Penguin, and they'll be released weekly!

With production starting early next year, we should learn a lot more in the next couple of months. Usually, we start to learn who is involved with these projects around the time production is reported to begin. It's too challenging to keep things secret, especially for a movie like The Batman Part II, which will likely include a lot of exterior scenes. It's much easier to keep the cast secret when filming on a soundstage. Based on the first film and how well the cast of the movie was received, we should have extremely high hopes for who Reeves has tapped for the sequel.

We'll share more news about The Batman Part II when we find out!
