Best and worst Marvel Phase 5 movies

Best: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

While we're still early into Phase 5, there is no denying that the best film to come from the latest phase of the MCU has been Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was the perfect sendoff for James Gunn and his loveable band of misfits, perfectly blending together the franchise's signature humor with one of the most emotional storylines the MCU has ever seen as well as one of the most chilling villains ever to grace the screen.

Learning from the mistakes of its past, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was a major step back in the right direction bringing incredible growth to the characters via their unique story arcs in the film. Of course, the standout was Rocket's heartbreaking backstory which was beautifully told as well as Chukwudi Iwuji's performance as the High Evolutionary, a villain who still haunts us.

Although we don't know for certain if this is the last time we've seen the Guardians, if this truly was the final mission for the ragtag group, they went out on top with an amazing final chapter.

Worst: Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania was intended to be a major piece in the world-building puzzle Marvel was assembling, which is honestly what proved to be the film's biggest downfall. The movie was so focused on trying to build Kang up as the MCU's next big bad that it lost the magic that made the first two Ant-Man movies so special.

The film failed to use its incredible ensemble to the best of its abilities with many characters fading into the background and getting lost in the background. While the humor of the first films was present, Quantumania lacked the heart that made the first two films so beloved by audiences with a lackluster plot that failed the characters and fans.
