The world of Matt Reeves' The Batman has returned, and we're more than ready for the journey back to Gotham City. That city is about to be taken over by a new crime boss, but the infamous Penguin of the DC Comics had to start somewhere, and that's where this series comes in.

The Penguin premiered on HBO and Max last week to acclaim from audiences, which honestly matched the acclaim critics were giving it the week prior to that. Colin Farrell returned as the infamous Oswald "Oz" Cobb, who is seeking to divide the Falcone family to assume their position at the head of the Gotham crime syndicate. And in just one episode, that determination has become incredibly clear.

If you're ready for the next chapter of this DC crime saga, here is when you can expect the second episode.

Oz Cobb's rise to the top continues in the second episode

The Penguin's premiere episode was a violent affair that saw Oz Cobb figure out that he might be capable of becoming Gotham's new kingpin. After impulsively killing the son of Carmine Falcone, he attempted to cover his tracks but he soon found himself on Sofia Falcone's radar. But even that life-or-death situation presented him with an opportunity, as he set a plan with the Maronis to revive the gang war between them and the Falcones.

It's a terrifying plan that will wage war on the streets of Gotham, and Oz will no doubt reap the rewards of that. And it appears that he will see him attempt to balance his new life as something of a double agent now, as the second episode of the series is indeed titled "Inside Man".

Is Oz doing the Maronis' dirty work, or are they doing the dirty work for him? Whatever happens, there will no doubt be blood spilled on both sides and The Penguin's grit will udoubtedly be tested. How far is Oz willing to go to secure his position as the future of Gotham's criminal empire, and what will he have to risk to make that happen?

He has established a unique friendship with Vic, the young man who attempted to steal from him in the pilot episode, because he sees something of himself in him. But could his friendship with Vic be a casualty of his gang war? We'll have to wait and see.
