The Walking Dead Universe will bring back some beloved faces next year, but don't expect these guys to be among the returnees.

Morgan Jones

Until Rick Grimes makes his return in The Ones Who Live, Morgan Jones is the longest-running character in the TWD Universe. Portrayed by Lennie James, Morgan appeared in the very first episode of The Walking Dead when he crossed paths with Rick in the early days of the apocalypse. He would recur sporadically until season 6 when he became a full-time member of the show. Two seasons later, he was moved to Fear The Walking Dead where he unfortunately became the lead of the spinoff.

Morgan departed Fear The Walking Dead midway through its eighth season as the character took a step back so that original protagonist Madison Clark could get the spotlight in the spinoff show's final few hours. It brought an end to his rather repetitive run on the show, but it also sounds like it could have brought an end to Lennie James' run with the character, as the actor revealed in an interview with Decider that as far as he's concerned "that's it" for his experience with Morgan.

Now, James did go on to say that if you see him again in the future, it would be because he was presented with a storyline he couldn't say no to. Something tells us that a potenital reunion with Rick in The Ones Who Live could be that storyline, but as the show is just commencing its six-episode first season this year, it's unlikely that this could happen in 2024. So while Morgan might be one of the characters more likely to return in that series, it's probably not going to happen just yet.
