Captain America: The First Avenger

Captain America: The First Avenger is another MCU movie that I don't think is quite appreciated as much as it should be. Released in 2011, Captain America: The First Avenger is actually the first MCU movie in chronological order. We're transported back to Steve Rogers' youth when he is injected with a special serum to become a super soldier. It works, and it turns the tide of World War II in America's favor over the Nazis, Hydra, and Red Skull.

The First Avenger is a little before its time. It paves the way for everything that follows. Tonally, it might feel a little out of place compared to some of the more recent MCU movies. If you rewatch The First Avenger after digesting everything we've seen in the MCU, this movie hits much harder. I don't know if that's a fair assessment, but we're looking at this movie 12-13 years later, and it's great! It's my second favorite of the Captain America movies behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

And, I can't not talk about how good Chris Evans is in this movie! Before The First Avenger, Evans starred as Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four, and let's be real, that did not go that well. It took some vision to cast Johnny Storm as Captain America, but it clearly worked!
