Wish still doesn't have a Disney Plus release date (but it should be coming soon)
By Cody Schultz
From the moment Disney's latest animated original movie Wish opened in theaters last November, parents and Disney lovers alike have been anxiously awaiting the film's arrival on Disney+.
The new film follows young Asha, who wishes upon a star and gets more than she ever bargained for when a trouble-making Star comes down from the sky to answer her wish. Together, Asha and Star must team up to stop King Magnifico, the ruler of Rosas, in order to save the kingdom.
Given the film released in theaters back in November, many anticipated it would be coming to Disney+ sometime in February. Instead, the movie was nowhere to be seen on the New to Disney+ list for the month which has left many fans wondering when Wish will finally begin streaming on Disney+
Wish should begin streaming on Disney+ in March 2024
Although Wish remains without a Disney+ streaming date, we're expecting the new movie will be coming to Disney's streaming platform sometime in March. This is because most Disney brand movies arrive on Disney+ roughly 3-4 months after their theatrical release and March would put us about four months out from Wish's release on November 22.
In all honesty, we fully expected that Wish would arrive on Disney+ in February but it seems Disney held the movie back in order to put some time between the arrival of The Marvels and Wish on Disney+.
The Marvels opened in theaters just two weeks before Wish, but arrived on Disney+ at the beginning of February, dropping on Feb. 7. With that timeline, we should have seen Wish arrive sometime around Feb. 21, but Wish was absent from the Disney+ February calendar meaning the movie will not be coming before the end of the month.
With Wish not dropping in February, it's looking likely that we should see Wish arrive on Disney+ during the first week of March. Considering Disney+ adds new movies on Wednesday, this means we should see Wish debut on Disney+ on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, which would honestly be perfect for Disney as it would give families a new movie to enjoy on Disney+ at the beginning of March and ahead of spring break when kids are at home and parents are looking for something new they can watch.
