2. Kelsey Grammer

Appeared in: X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Marvels

If you asked X-Men fans who delivered their favorite performance as Beast, the majority of them would probably say Kelsey Grammer. The legendary actor best known for his role as Frasier Crane played Hack McCoy in the original X-Men movie series, making his first appearance in the divisive X-Men: The Last Stand and appearing again in the critically-acclaimed X-Men: Days of Future Past.

It isn't hard to see why Grammer's performance as Beast is held in such high regard. The esteemed actor effortlessly capture's Hank McCoy's refined dialect, approaching the character with almost a Shakespearean elegance that makes for quite the contrast from his beastly appearance with all of that blue fur. And the make-up is very effective (as is Grammer's physical performance as the character), as it all goes a long way in creating the perfect live-action adaptation of the character.

In many ways, Grammer's Beast was the personification of the version we saw in X-Men: The Animated Series, which many consider to be the definitive adaptation of the character. The only criticism is, again, that we didn't see him nearly enough. With his return to the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's The Marvels, here's hoping that can be corrected.
