4. Alexandra Shipp

Appeared in: X-Men: Apocalypse (2016), Deadpool 2 (2018, cameo), and Dark Phoenix (2019)

I was a bit conflicted with ranking Alexandria Shipp's Storm in the lower half of this list, but at the end of the day, it seemed only fair given this was a version of Storm that never truly lived up to our hopes and expectations.

While Shipp absolutely captured the look of Storm and did the best she could with the materials provided, it was the creative team who again failed the character and the actress tapped to play the iconic hero.

There were some flashes of brilliance in her performance and the potential Storm held as a character. Unfortunately, the creative team failed to give her much at all to do within the movie outside of throwing her into the mix here and there to sling around some lightning bolts and shoot intense looks at Apocalypse's opponents. While we got to see Shipp return again in Dark Phoenix, it again felt as though the character was lost in the background to other characters rather than really getting the chance to live up to the character's immense potential.

With better writing and a more meaty storyline, there is no doubt that Shipp could have given audiences one of the best performances as Storm we'd ever seen. It's just a shame she never really got the chance to do so.
