10 X-Men characters who need to appear in X-Men '97 season 2

Part of the success of X-Men '97 came from the appearance of different mutants. The second season will improve on that and these are the ten that we need to see.

X-Men ‘97 could become the greatest comic book project ever. Not just animated. The Disney Plus show brilliantly mixed comedy, action, and emotional moments. It’s no wonder people can’t wait for the second season. The cliffhanger of the X-Men scattered throughout time doesn’t hurt either.

The first season showed a lot of different Marvel Comics characters. In Genosha, mutants like Multiple Man, Exodus, and Pixie appeared. Season 2 will certainly have more. Of the vast amount of X-Men-related characters, these are the ten we need to see during season 2 of X-Men ‘97.

10. Mystique

Mystique was being saved for season 2. During X-Men: The Animated Series, Raven assisted Apocalypse in transforming mutants into his Horsemen of Apocalypse (X-Men: The Animated Series, season 1, episode 10 "Come the Apocalypse"). She will likely return to help En Sabah Nur turn Gambit into his horseman, Death.

9. Emma Frost

Emma Frost’s secondary mutation was shown to help with season 2. Now, when she appears in the next season, there’s no need for an explanation. In addition to that, Forge and Bishop will need a telepath on their rescue team.

8. Feral Wolverine

Logan was unaccounted for after the X-Men were displaced. The good news is we know he’s healing. The bad news is he could be something different the next time we see him.

In the comics, losing the adamantium in his body progressed his mutation. He became more beast than man. This should happen in season 2 but shouldn’t last too long. Hopefully, Moprh will be the one to nurse him back to normal.

7. Archangel

Season 1 of X-Men ‘97 ends with Apocalypse hinting at making Gambit his horseman Death. En Sabah Nur’s return will bring Warren Worthington back. There’s no way Warren sits back and lets someone else be tortured and used like he was. Unfortunately, Archangel’s rage and determination won’t be enough to stop Apocalypse. Look for Archangel to show up at the X-Men’s door with a warning of what’s coming.

6. Iceman

Bobby “Iceman” Drake fully appeared in one episode of X-Men: The Animated Series ("Cold Front"). That needs to change. Forge and Bishop will need an omega-level mutant to replace Storm and Iceman is the right pick. This is an opportunity for the world to see that Bobby does more than make ice.

5. Juggernaut

Juggernaut is one of the X-Men’s oldest enemies. However, he left on “good” terms in X-Men: The Animated Series. With Charles Xavier gone, Juggernaut could become the hero he is in Marvel Comics. It would be nice for viewers to see the kind and caring side of Cain Marko.

4. Deadpool

Shockingly, there was no mention of Deadpool throughout X-Men ‘97. Morph didn’t even change into him. That leads this writer to think they were saving him for season 2. He has a connection to Cable (who will likely be on Forge and Bishop's team) and they’ll need an unkillable skilled fighter. Plus, a quip-off between Iceman and Wade would be epic.

3. Domino

Domino is another character with a connection to Cable. She also brings something to the table that Bishop and Forge will need. Neena brings luck. They’ll need all the good fortune they can handle to find the X-Men.

2. Colossus

Every superhero team needs a strong guy and Colossus is the way to go. Not only is he one of the strongest members of the X-Men, he’s popular. His fame may have increased after the Deadpool movies, but longtime X-Men fans never stopped loving him.

1. Kitty Pryde

Kitty Pryde has been absent from the X-Men cartoon. I initially assumed it was because she hadn’t enrolled in the school. That’s the comic book fan in me. For all we know, she’s already called Professor Xavier a jerk and left for England. While this writer doesn’t think this is the case, it would be cool to see. If this isn’t how she’s introduced, we’ll see her join the X-Men at the end of season 2.
