Toy enthusiasts in the UK are in for a real treat, because it has been revealed that an extremely rare Hulk toy will be auctioned for an absolutely extravagant amount of cash later this month, and Marvel collectors might want to start counting their pennies if they want to participate.

As reported by the BBC, this Hulk stretch toy was initially released all the way back in 1979, but only around 30 were known to have been produced by manufacturer Denys Fisher in the village of Thorpe Arch, making it a truly valuable collector’s item. Although superheroes weren't the mainstream titans that they are now, the green one was a household name even back then due to the iconic The Incredible Hulk TV series that aired at the time. Needless to say he has stood the test of time, potentially making this particular toy even more valuable.

The auction will be held by Excalibur Auctions on July 26, and the listing on the British company’s website refers to the item as “one of the rarest stretch toys in existence”.

Because so few of these Hulk toys were produced, the demand for it among collectors at the auction will clearly be insatiable, as it really is a rare and invaluable piece of Marvel history. You can see that the toy also perfectly captures the Hulk’s muscular physique and his trademark scowl, making it an authentic depiction of Marvel’s angriest hero. And aside from a few minor tears in the cardboard packaging, the stretch toy is also in very good condition, which helps to explain why it will be sold for around £3,000-£5,000.

As anyone who owned a Stretch Armstrong toy in their youth will know, stretch toys start to smell bad after a while, so the winner of the auction will probably want to keep the Hulk toy in its box. Either way, the toy also comes packaged with its original instructions in addition to a number one flap, which helps to vindicate its authenticity as an extremely rare collector’s item.

So, if you happen to be a Marvel fan with a few thousand extra pennies lying around, you might just want to participate in this auction to win an incredibly rare piece of Marvel history. Apologies in advance for the bad pun, but the winner of this auction really will make all their friends green with envy.
