"Alright, let's do this one last time". Any Spider-Man fan can recognize these simple words in a heartbeat, which only goes to show how impactful a movie's opening can be. Peter B. Parker's narration about how he became the "one and only Spider-Man" is one for the history books, just like that first swing sequence in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Now, all eyes are on the wall-crawler's upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe adventure to top things off and deliver excellence from the opening sequence all the way until the credits roll.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is just around the corner, and fans couldn't be more excited. The set pictures alone are enough for everyone to know something special is on the horizon. Fortunately, the movie will kick things off with a bang, according to a new report. The wall-crawler has no shortage of enemies in comic book pages, and we might be about to see many of them appear on the big screen soon.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will open with a montage of Spidey fighting multiple villains

According to renowned and reliable insider Alex Perez (via The Cosmic Circus), Spider-Man: Brand New Day will kick things off with an opening montage of the wall-crawler fighting multiple villains since the end of No Way Home. After every encounter, we'll see Peter upgrade his suit until he lands in the (beautiful) look that he's been sporting on the movie's set. This scene is reportedly similar to the opening sequence of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

For quite some time now, it has been heavily rumored that many different villains would appear to wreak havoc in New York City during the events of Brand New Day. Fans even speculated that The Sinister Six could make their theatrical debut, due to the sheer number of antagonists that are reported to appear in the movie. Tombstone, Tarantula, Boomerang, Ramrod, and the Rhino are all likely candidates to show up. Furthermore, it has been officially confirmed that Scorpion will join the picture.

While the prospect of watching all these bad guys share the big screen is nothing short of exciting, it's also worth noting that Spider-Man movies oftentimes struggle to balance multiple characters at the same time (which is a big reason why both The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3 failed to win over fans' hearts). Fortunately, it appears Brand New Day won't be destined to suffer from the same fate, as most of the villains rumored to appear will be relegated to the movie's opening montage (with the exception of Scorpion, that is).

Interestingly enough, it remains to be seen who the main antagonist of the wall-crawler's upcoming adventure will be. While everyone expected Mister Negative to take that spot, multiple insiders have claimed that he won't even make an appearance. Furthermore, Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk is also out of the equation. So even if we know that multiple street-level foes will be in the movie, there is no clear indication of who will get the spotlight.

When Sam Raimi was still working on the now-cancelled Spider-Man 4, the movie was intended to open things up with a montage of Spidey fighting fan-favorites such as Mysterio. But while audiences will never get the chance to see what could've been, we might get a spiritual successor to such a sequence next year. That prospect is nothing short of exciting, especially since it's something we've never seen before. Besides, if Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings proves anything, it's that director Destin Daniel Cretton definitely has the secret recipe to craft electrifying and thrilling fights.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on Jul. 31, 2026.
