Dark days lie ahead for New York. The city recently endured the Kingpin's devilish reign as its mayor and also survived the Void's attack during the events of Thunderbolts*. But just when it seemed like the worst was already behind us, many new villains are about to strike, and there's just one man who can stop them.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is not only the wall-crawler's fourth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it will also present his biggest challenge yet. After hiding in the shadows for nearly a decade, the Hand will step into the light to wreak havoc once more. To make matters more complicated, Scorpion will return after being set up in the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: Homecoming. But in case that wasn't enough, Ramrod, Tarantula, Boomerang, and the Savage Hulk will also face the friendly neighborhood hero.

Peter Parker already has his work cut out for him, and yet, he may be about to meet his biggest foe yet. Tombstone is officially set to join the MCU in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and will be portrayed by Marvin Jones III. So far, Marvel has tried to keep the terrifying villain a secret by refusing to feature him in any of the trailers released. But at long last, we know what he will look like in live-action.

Our best look at Tombstone in Spider-Man: Brand New Day is finally here

Tombstone has been at the center of the spotlight lately. He had a prominent role in the first season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, where audiences saw him evolve from a good student with a bright future ahead to the leader of a gang. Furthermore, he later made his live-action debut in Spider-Noir, where he mainly acted as an antagonistic force before turning to the good side. Now, he's about to join the big screen.

Tombstone is a very interesting villain because we don't know what his role will be like. Given the secrecy surrounding his character, fans have started to speculate that he will be the mastermind behind the events of the film. Maybe all of the villains set to appear (Scorpion, Ramrod, the Hand, etc.) are on Tombstone's payroll. Besides, there's a high chance that we'll see more of him in years to come.

Back in 2025, it was reported that Tombstone would be one of the recurring villains the wall-crawler would face in his new trilogy. With that in mind, there's a chance that Lonnie Lincoln will have a minor role in Brand New Day, as the movie will merely set him up to be a bigger threat in the future. After all, this would mimic the character's arc in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 1.

Marvel villains usually have only one appearance under their belt before meeting their end. There have been just a handful of exceptions to this rule, like Thanos, Loki, Valentina Allegra De Fontaine, and the Kingpin. Expanding that list with Tombstone could prove to be the right move for Marvel. Besides, Lonnie Lincoln's introduction could pose a threat to many different street-level characters.

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 saw the Kingpin removed from the mayor's seat, but his story is far from over. So, if Tombstone were to be introduced in the MCU, then he could very well act as an antagonist to Wilson Fisk, Spider-Man, and Daredevil. Besides, given that Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Elektra will all be active once more, they need a big threat to fight. So who better than the man who could have the Hand on his payroll?

Marvel is known for planning storylines years in advance, and while that has rarely applied to villains, perhaps the superhero giant is already looking to establish some of the foes we'll see in the next saga. Of course, there's always the possibility that Tombstone won't ever be seen again after Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but for the time being, all signs seem to indicate that he'll take over the spotlight for years to come.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on Jul. 31, 2026.
