2026 will mark five years since the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, a highly ambitious movie whose multiversal premise compelled audiences worldwide to fill entire screenings one after another.
The wall-crawler's last film set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe nearly reached the $2 billion mark, ending its theatrical run with a worldwide gross of $1.91 billion. But just when it seemed Sony couldn't come close to replicating that level of success, Spider-Man: Brand New Day may make history all over again.
Half a decade later, the mask menace is making headlines even outside the Daily Bugle. Tom Holland's return as Peter Parker on the big screen has been met with a lot of excitement by fans worldwide, a case only helped by the fact that The Punisher and Hulk will also appear in Brand New Day. Furthermore, we will also witness the live-action debut of Scorpion, Boomerang, Ramrod, Tombstone, and even a new iteration of Jean Grey. All eyes are set on the wall-crawler's upcoming adventure, and this level of anticipation is reflected in the film's box office tracking.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is tracking to have a $228 million domestic opening weekend
As reported by Box Office Theory, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is tracking to have an unforgettable opening weekend. On its lower end, the film could gross $212 million at the domestic box office during its first three days. In the best-case scenario, that figure is raised all the way to an astonishing $255 million, with the middle (and most likely) point being at $228 million.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day could have the second-best domestic opening weekend ever for a Spider-Man film, falling $32.1 million behind Spider-Man: No Way Home but surpassing Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 by $76.9 million. To put these numbers into perspective, here are all the domestic opening weekends for the live-action Spider-Man films, ranked from highest to lowest grossing:
- Spider-Man: No Way Home: $260.1 million
- Spider-Man: Brand New Day (tracking): $228 million
- Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3: $151.1 million
- Spider-Man: Homecoming: $117 million
- Sam Raimi's Spider-Man: $114.8 million
- Spider-Man: Far From Home: $92.5 million
- The Amazing Spider-Man 2: $91.6 million
- Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2: $88.1 million
- The Amazing Spider-Man: $62 million
Things look just as promising across the globe. Early projections estimate that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will gross $550 million during opening weekend at the worldwide box office. That would put it just $51 million behind No Way Home's $601 million opening. Furthermore, these numbers would all but confirm that the upcoming MCU film will end its theatrical run surpassing the $1 billion mark.
Early projections are nothing short of extraordinary, but Spider-Man: Brand New Day has already surpassed a major milestone at the early box office. The wall-crawler's upcoming adventure broke the record for the best first-day presales in five years. Additionally, the film has grossed $40 million in presales alone.
Sometimes, superhero movies ride or die on critical reception (a case that holds especially true for big blockbusters like Supergirl), so Brand New Day could have an even bigger opening than anticipated if early reviews are positive. Fortunately, it seems this could end up being the case.
It has been reported that test screenings for Spider-Man: Brand New Day are over the moon, with some calling it the wall-crawler's best film since Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2. If momentum keeps going this strong, then the MCU could have its biggest success in recent memory (at least until Avengers: Doomsday comes our way). Fortunately, we don't have to wait much longer to discover if the wall-crawler will have a triumphant return to the big screen.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on July 31.
