Ever since his first appearance back in 1962, Spider-Man has cemented himself as one of the most (if not the most) popular superheroes ever created. As such, he's starred in no shortage of Marvel adventures throughout the years, covering theatrical movies, video games, animated series, and, of course, comic book pages. However, one of the most acclaimed stories involving the wall-crawler is none other than Ultimate Spider-Man (2024).
Jonathan Hickman's series has been recently making waves for all the right reasons, as it reimagined the beloved hero in a way that respects the character's origin while still giving it its own unique twist. Fans were eager to see this iteration of Peter Parker participate in jaw-dropping crossovers, and that day is finally here. As universes collide and incursions become more frequent, it was just a matter of time before visitors from other realities made their way to Earth-6160. So, what better character to make history happen than Miles Morales himself?
Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion (2025) brings together three versions of Spider-Man
Earth-6160 was supposed to mirror the events of the mainline Marvel universe, Earth-616, but a powerful villain called The Maker ensured that would never come to be. This evil version of Mr. Fantastic used a time machine to systematically prevent the creation of every superhero in Earth-6160 and place supervillains in charge of each of the world's sovereign territories. For a long time, nobody knew about this horrible truth, but once Tony Stark uncovered it, he was quick to take action.
Tony sent a grown, married Peter Parker the radioactive spider that was supposed to bite him when he was a teenager, along with an advanced picotech suit. The family man willingly let himself get bitten and became Earth's Greatest Protector: Spider-Man. However, as months passed, he wouldn't be the only wall-crawler around town. When Peter was kidnapped by Kraven the Hunter, his son Richard Parker tried to fill the void by suiting up with the picotech suit as the "symbiote Spider-Man". Now, father and son are in charge of keeping New York City safe from every threat... until a mysterious visitor pays them a visit, that is.
Before The Maker set off on his mission to create "his perfect world", he invited Miles for the ride by handing him what appeared to be a presentation card. While Brooklyn's protector initially declined the offer, he would travel to this new reality nonetheless by accident. One day, that "card" suddenly activated, revealing itself to be a portal to Earth-6160. Unfortunately, this interdimensional door pulled Miles' sister, Billie, into it, and so Spidey had no other option but to follow her trail. As simple as that, the crossover we've been waiting for came to be.
During the events of Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion (2025) No. 1, Peter and Richard Parker from Earth-6160 met another Spider-Man from the multiverse in the form of Miles Morales. The three then embark on a mission to find Billie and perhaps even meet other iconic Marvel characters along the way.
On a personal note, I think Peter and Richard accepted a bit too easily that there are other Spider-Men in other realities. Just a bit over a year ago, they had perfectly normal lives that didn't involve any superhero-ing, and yet they seem to handle the multiversal shenanigans a bit too well if you were to ask me. I was personally excited to see Peter and Richard's reaction to learning about the multiverse, only to find out... they weren't shocked at all.
Furthermore, there isn't a great sense of urgency in Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion (2025) No. 1. While the Spider-Men crossover was definitely welcome, it would've been amazing to see all three heroes against a common enemy at the same time, instead of simply letting Miles handle everything by himself. Nonetheless, the debut issue of the series sets the stage for even bigger things to come in the near future, as many key figures from Earth-6160 want to get their hands on Miles' teleportation device.
Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion (2025) No. 2 will be released on Jul. 09, 2025.
