It is no secret that 2026 will be a big year for Spider-Man fans. Between the releases of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2, and Avengers: Doomsday (in which Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man is rumored to appear), there's something for all fans of the wall-crawler. Yet one of the hero's most intriguing projects is Spider-Noir, an upcoming Prime Video and MGM+ TV series set to reimagine its titular character in many different ways.
When we think of Spider-Man, we usually picture Peter Parker under the mask—a timid teenager from Queens who will stop at nothing to save every life possible. However, we're about to meet someone completely different. Enter Ben Reilly, a private investigator from the Great Depression era, who isn't afraid to shoot his way through problems. Spider-Noir will show us a darker, more violent version of the wall-crawler than we're used to. So, if the hero of this tale is already relentless, what can we expect from the bad guys?
Spider-Man Noir has no shortage of villains in comic book pages, and one of the most relentless will make its way to the small screen. Make room, because something terrible is coming.

Jack Huston will play Sandman in Spider-Noir
Flint Marko recently fought three different versions of the wall-crawler in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and he's about to add one more to his list. As revealed by Esquire, Jack Huston will play Sandman in the Spider-Noir series, and he'll go face-to-face against Nicolas Cage's Ben Reilly.
Sandman is a tricky villain to bring to life in live-action due to how VFX-intensive his character is. So, the question must be asked: will the character be done justice on the small screen? Fortunately, it seems that will be the case. According to renowned insider Daniel Richtman, Spider-Noir is "way bigger" than fans expect, with the fight between The Spider and Sandman acting as an "epic" highlight.
In the Spider-Man Noir comic book series, Sandman was a secondary antagonist who followed the orders of a greater threat, and it seems the upcoming adaptation will take some cues from this. Flint Marko is described as a muscle for hire, though it remains unclear if he'll work for Brendan Gleeson's Silvermane, who's shaping up to be one of the series' main villains.

Silvermane and Sandman won't be the only iconic Spider-Man villains set to appear in Spider-Noir. Li Jun Li is set to play the role of Felicia 'Cat' Hardy, a nightclub chanteuse who will drag Ben Reilly into a big conspiracy that directly connects to the anti-hero's past and his origins as The Spider. As is the case with any good Black Cat adaptation, we can expect her to be on both the good and bad sides of history.
Spider-Noir will also dive into the mystery of why Ben Reilly is the protagonist, rather than Peter Parker (as is the case on comic book pages). There is a narrative reason behind the change, and a creative one too. Peter Parker has become too synonymous with a bright, cheerful teenager. Reilly, on the other hand, will be "older" and "jaded".
During an interview with Esquire, Nicolas Cage revealed that Spider-Noir will consist of eight episodes and that the series will have a colored and a black-and-white version. Unfortunately, we don't have an exact release date for the series just yet, but 2026 will finally be the year when we dive deeper into Ben Reilly's personal traumas and cases, and we can't wait to see how it all unfolds.
Spider-Noir will be released in 2026.
